Clayton Joseph Chenier was born September 28, 1957 – the son of the great King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier. C.J.’s father was the first Creole musician to win a Grammy Award. C.J.’s earliest musical influences were an eclectic mix of funk, soul, jazz and Motown, and his first musical instruments were piano, tenor saxophone and flute.

Bands n Beans March 22nd from 2-7pm, held at Roaring Brook Ranch in Lake George, NY!

All the Chili you can eat!

Hot chili and hot music will be served up at the 24th annual Bands ‘n Beans event at Roaring Brook Ranch in Lake George on Sunday, March 22, 2015. Tickets are $20 at the door, or call LGAP at (518) 668-2616.

This year’s musicians include Rich Ortiz, Stony Creek Band, Soul Sky, Rattail Jimmy, Dirt Cheap, Chris Ballini, Doug Irving, Phil Camp, and Tim Wechgelaer & Friends.

Restaurants participating in the Chili Competition include: Barking Spider, Barnsider, Bean’s Country Store, Bogey’s at Bay Meadows, Blue Moose Tavern, Caffe Vero, Center Plate @ Gore Mt., Docksider Restaurant, Duffy’s Tavern, Dunhams Bay Lodge, East Cove Restaurant, Fort William Henry, Friends Lake Inn, Full Moon Bar & Grill, Garnet Hill Lodge, The Garrison, The Georgian, Holiday Inn @ Lake George, King Neptune’s, Lizzie Keays, Log Jam Restaurant, Longhorn Restaurant & Pub, Melba Mae’s, O’Toole’s Restaurant, Raintree Restaurant, Superior Cantina, UpRiver Café and Witherbees Carriage House Restaurant.

Along with Chili from these restaurants Rock Hill Bakehouse will serve their award winning breads, and Ben & Jerry’s will sell ice cream with all their proceeds donated to the Lake George Arts Project.

An Eventful Summer

Well, it’s been a while since I posted anything here. Its been a super busy summer covering gallery openings, plays and music events for local press. It was great! Now looking out across the landscape as all the beautifully brilliant fall leaves have fallen due to dipping temperatures at night, winds and rain… we’re slowly entering… winter.

Bands ‘n Beans – March 2, 2014

This year the Lake George Arts Project held the 23rd Annual Bands ‘n Beans, and it was a roar!

There must have been more than 1,000 people who came out to taste some of the best chili from 30 restaurants, hear live music, dance, meet friends, make friends, and bid on gift certificates from local businesses and art from local artists.

A BIG Thank You to everyone who volunteers and all who donate and contribute time in all of the Lake George Arts Project fundraisers!
