Sweeny Todd presented by GFCT

MCB_9661The Glens Falls Community Theater (GFCT) presents “Sweeny Todd”

“Sweeney Todd” directed by Avery Clark-Babson and Mark Collier at the Wood Theater on November 6-8 and 13-15, 2015.

Returning after 15 years of grievously unjust imprisonment, and calling himself Sweeney Todd, the now-mad barber vows revenge, applying his razor to unlucky customers and shuttling the bodies down to clever Mrs. Lovett who uses them in her meat-pie shop. Though many unsavory characters fall to his blade, he will not be satisfied until he eliminates Turpin, the man who robbed him of his wife and daughter. This Sondheim operatic classic is darkly intriguing with a twist ending reminiscent of Greek tragedy.

Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Book by Hugh Wheeler.

“Sweeney Todd” opened on Broadway in 1979. It won the Tony Award for Best Musical and Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
